That was an excellent movie, highly recommended! I was only half-surprised by the ending though. I didn't see that exact situation coming but I knew it was going to be something like that. (sorry, no spoilers!

That's a fair analogy, I'd say. I actually thought it was going to be an 'Alien' prequel when I first started watching it. The first time I got a glimpse at one of the 'creatures' it looked like there were spikes on it's back, plus they were walking on all fours.

A great example would be The Abyss.

Man, I was really ticked off when I saw that for the first time. I watched it when they first aired it on Sci-Fi channel. They played the version with no aliens! Without the aliens it's not 'sci-fi', it's just 'fi'!!!
"Invasion of the Body Snatchers" is one of the few movies where I actually like the remake better. ("The Invasion") The only other one I can think of is "I am Legend" (with Will Smith), which is actually a remake of a remake of a remake. (Ya, it's been done 4 times...) That's the only thing I've ever liked with Will Smith in it, so I personally can't recommend MIB or ID4...
The other movies listed are all pretty good though, with the possible exception of Signs. I'm sorry, that movie just made no sense at all. I think Carter said it best in an episode of SG-1. I can't remember
exactly what she said, so I'm paraphrasing here:
'If water hurts them, why would they travel light-years through space to take over a planet that's 70% water?! Not to mention all the rain!'
If you can get past the enormous gap in logic though, I suppose it's a decent movie.
I almost forgot the Indie films...
"Homeworld" is a bit of a mind-bender, and extremely low budget. Despite the lack of special effects and big name actors, I thought it was brilliant. The first half hour or so is pretty slow, but if you can keep with it it gets better.
"The Nines" is one of the best Indie films I've ever seen. If you end up watching it you might find yourself asking 'What does this have to do with aliens?'. Just keep watching, it will make sense in the end. It's a really weird movie and it's intentionally confusing. I think this quote says it all:
"If I'm a 'nine' and humans are 'sevens', then what are 'eights'?"
"Koala's are eights. They're telepathic and they also control the weather."
Ya, and if that doesn't get your attention, the movie starts with the main character going on a crack binge. Funny stuff.
This next film isn't about aliens, per say, but it's possible they had something to do with it. Alien intervention is one possible theory, but personally I think Santa Claus just got tired of delivering presents. (

) In "The Signal" a mysterious signal is being broadcast through all TV's and radios. This signal causes anyone who hears it to lose touch with reality and chaos ensues. If you're a fan of zombie movies, this is a must see! There's no zombies in it, but it certainly has the feel of one of those movies. A word of warning though, there are some
very graphic scenes. This is definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen, Indie film or not.
