The people of India and China have used certain herbs to improve mental/psychic abilities for many centuries. Some of the best herbs used for these purposes are Gotu Kola, Bacopa, Holy Basil and Calamus, but there are others. All of these herbs, especially Gotu Kola and Bacopa, improve concentration, memory, and other cognitive functions, and in recent decades this has been confirmed by numerous scientific studies.

These herbs have many medicinal uses too. In India, Bacopa and Gotu Kola are used to treat ADD in children, relieve depression and anxiety, and treat many conditions such as arthritis, heal wounds and increase circulation. Here's a little information on the historical use of these herbs.

Seeds and/or plants of all four of the herbs I've mentioned can be purchased on the web, or if you're lucky you might find one or two of them at a local business that sells herbs.

When i smoke herbs, i feel more psychic too. lol

    IM KIDDING

You would be surprised at how many pharmaceutical medications come from traditional herbs.

Aspirin comes from the bark of a tree, comoudin or warfarin, a stroke medication, comes from an herb.

Many prescription cures come from good ol herbs.

And many, in my opinion, do more harm then good. Like the flu shot for example. I haven't had one in years and haven't been sick since while everyone I know that has taken it gets sick. I'm thinking certain drugs actually kill your immune system or maybe I'm just a freak of nature and have an extreme;y strong immune system. Who knows.

Marijuana can also be used for people with ADD and is more probable to do a better job then say ritalin...

Helps only to the extent that it may improve ones ability to focus and concentrate.

    Not true.

Marijuana would just increase ADD. It messes with your short term memory, A.K.A attention span. Though it may have positive effects int he shortterm. In the longrun, if used too much, will probably worsen it.

But if i had to choose between ritalin and marijuana, id choose mary jane in a heartbeat.

Though I am not calling you a liar but from experience, it doesn't mess with short-term memory at all. It also enhances concentration and opens stored memory. At least it does for me and I consider myself a frequent user. Though not everyone reacts the same way and more or less, not one person reacts the same way. But from an experience-oriented stand-point, I feel it would be more beneficial than harmful to ADD patients.

Wasn't it used after the Second World War to treat 'post traumatic stress disorder',but was withdrawn sometime later when new legislation was brought in.

    Either way,

Here is an interesting study on the effects of drugs on the brain using some kind of new medical scan technique.

Its possible that your brain is just more resilient to the deleterious effects of marijuana.

*ehem. I have experienced marijuana usage MANY times. lol I smoked everyday, all day, for 8years.

After a while, it takes its toll.

Nowhere near as bad as "powdered" drugs, but it does make you lazy as hell. IF smoked too often.

If used in moderation, i dont see how it could be harmful. Its nowhere near as dangerous as alchohol...

For ADD? i dont know... im not a doctor. but studies on marijuana have shown that some cognitive functions were "enhanced" while under the influence of marijuana.

Though i still believe that it has negative effects on your lungs, motivation, and your short term memory. Also You can become mentally dependant on it.
