    Exclamation My dream last night..

1st I'm going to tell you this, My roommate's friend got abducted last saturday night. When he woke up he was in shock and left to anticoh, where he lives. My roomate said that I need to get ahold of him because on the way to antioch his friend kept saying how he needs to talk to me about the abduction. Because I see UFO's all the time, Shit always happens to me.

But back to my dream. Usually I dont dream, but this dream was so real like, ive never had one like it before.
So im in A classroom (Im not in school) And I see my ex(1st love, 4years) and I sat next to him and he starts crying and telling me he lost the pictures of us. I told him I love him and want to be wit him, I missed him. Then we walk out of the classroom then go to a dark-full moon bus stop/train station? theres water and a bridge. Im so happy and then we find a green gucci purse and i open it and we go through it, all that was in there was eyeliner he says I can keep the purse and then I woke up looking at my ex, I look again and its my boyfriend.

Help? It's really been bothering me. My ex and I broke up in January.

    Dear Lala,

You must excuse me for ignoring the part about you seeing UFO's or your roommates friend being abducted as I believe this has nothing to do with your dream.

First you say that you do not dream. People most of the time dream while being in REM sleep. (Rapid Eye Movement). This is a stage of sleep where your brain activity is the highest, this comes along your eyes rapidly moving horizontaly, thats where the name comes from. During REM sleep your brain activity is the highest, and these are the dreams that are the easiest to remember, especially when being awaken by your alarm clock for instance during REM sleep. If you awake during your REM sleep you will most likely remember your dream. But when you dream during another stage of your sleep the chances of remembering it are much much smaller due to less brain activity. This is an explanation why you do not remember most your dreams.

Dreams can also be very realistic. It is not rare that you can even smell things in your dream. Clearly you woke up during your REM sleep, because you can remember everything so clearly. You woke up still having that dream in mind and saw your ex-boyfriend but when looking again you saw your current boyfriend. This happens quiet often and it is nothing that you should worry about in my honest opinion as you do not mention that you have sleeping disorders or suffer from sleep paralysis.

So its just a normal dream that you remembered a bit more clearly in my opinion.

Close enough explanation but you don't really dream unless you are having REM. In deep sleep stafe 3 and 4 you have delta waves so your brain is not dreaming, its in a deep hibernation so to speak. The dreams or visions won't happen until REM.

If we have REM we dream. We just don't remember most if not all our dreams because we do not access long term memory when we sleep and so will not remember our dreams for more then a very short period of time and that would be only if we wake up right after REM and so in this case it sounds like our dream teller is not waking up after her REM but returning to stage 2 and then stage 3 and then stage 4 sleep because I am guessing the dream teller is under 30 or 35 and still goes into sleep stage 4.

Otherwise you gave good advise just a minor clarification to what you said. Sorry I am a psychology lecturer. Can't resist.

Elemental gave you some good feedback that I agree with. Dreams remember are just symbolic. They are not meant to be taken literally. To understand them one would need to understand your life history, cultural values, morality, beliefs, how you feel and sense things and find out what you ate before you went to bed, find out whether you smoke cigarettes, dope, took drugs or drank booze before bed are in good health, have any chronic illnesses, epilepsy, brain tumours, attention deficit disorders, on and on. Lol you see its not easy.

I would guess you still haven't gotten over your first boyfriend. The first one none of us get over. Hell I am 54 and I still am heart broken over my first real love and she left me for this big bald weightlifter on steroids and at the time I was this really good looking thin dancer and so when she left me for this big guerilla I was devastated. So were you. The first one is the worst. We never get over it. At best as the years go by it heals...sort of like the waves of the ocean, the first ones come crashing in (the painful fresh memories) and as time passes the crashing waves slow down into slower and smaller waves of remorse and regret and eventually the waves die down and stop.

Right now the waves or memories of your first one, still come in and shake you and you of course feel regret and wish you could go back. Now you are with a new guy trying to move on but you of course still feel one foot is still dragging behind.

Sometimes it takes a long time to move past the first relationship and it sounds in your dream you are trying to move on but find yourself being pulled back by regrets and wishing if only....

Lol I will yell you what I told my daughters-never look back-no point-keep moving forward.

Easier said then done I know. Also give yourself a break. Many times in your new relationships you compare your feelings in the present tense to things from the past tense-that is only normal. Not to worry.

26 years later I still sometimes have a dream of my first girlfriend I was in love with walking out on me. Lol. No I never took steroids and I don't look back. Its life.

    Smile.
