Lets hope this dream does not come true my friend, that would be one hell of a scary reality that you would not have much chance of waking up from...!

I had a dream that began with some weird personal messages and then I was someone else. I walked down a ridge, which went all the way down the beach. The only way I can describe it is kind of like a plateau with houses on it. Then there was a walkway down to the edge of this large pond separated by the ocean. I believe it was connected somewhere though.
I was standing and talking when the ground began to shake violently. I've never been in an earthquake so I don't know how to describe it but this was pretty bad. I literally had to sit down because I couldn't stand. The quake seemed to last for a long time, but it ended quickly. We then decided we needed to get to the other side of the pond. The way we came had collapsed due to the earthquake. We set off and ran and swam as fast as we could.
The first waves came over and tossed me around. I was so scared, and thought I was going to drown. I got halfway and turned around. A 45 foot wave stood on the horizon. So tall, it left a shadow. I swam and ran as fast as I could, but when I turned around it was barreling toward us. It had finally become the familiar wall of water rather than a giant looking wave. I watched as it got within 20 feet and then woke up.
Lets hope this dream does not come true my friend, that would be one hell of a scary reality that you would not have much chance of waking up from...!
Hi there Mr. D ~ for someone who has never been in a quake, your dream experience & description is pretty accurate. I was born/raised in San Francisco area, and the strongest memories, what stands out MOST for me about them are # 1 - the sound of it coming, then the sound during, it makes my stomach drop & heart pound, stark fear; # 2 that time itself seems to slow, although duration of quake can be (& often is measured in) seconds, it feels like a long, long time, because it's SO disorienting & upsetting; # 3 - it stops on a dime. Until after shocks roll in, that is. I got knocked off my feet only once though, grateful for that.
Not that I think it's necessarily a premonition.... unless you have a history of accurate premonitions... if you do, please describe what the beach looked like... flora, etc. (GULP!) Curious

It looked similar to this, except with a walkway at the front.

Yep, that's California, first glance tells me that. See them hills, that's historical seismic data right in front of us. Well, if anything gets more clear, you keep us posted OKAY? The walkway... at the front, you mean a walkway to the front of the house, yes? Or a walkway FROM the house to the beach? I'm trying to link architecture to the neighborhoods I know, both So. & No. California. Thx Mr. D. Curious
PS - did you note the hills, like those shown in your image? In front of the house, in back....? Just fishing & after all, just Curious!

Dreams can be very symbolic also reflecting an event into our dreams to be used symbolically by our sub-conscious to actually reflect something going on within ourselves...
For instance:
Tidal waves or Tsunami waves are also symbolic of our feelings. They may show that we are overcome with strong feelings on an issue. The sea in dreams symbolises the feelings we have and the land the facts about some issue. For the sea to sweep over the land shows that we are making very emotional decisions.
Earthquakes link to a total change in the way you view some aspect of your life. Sometimes something happens we suddenly develope a whole new set of attitudes. Things that used to excite and please us now depress us.
A Shoreline or Beach is where the sea(symbolic of our feelings) and the land(symbolic of the facts about our life) meet. It therefore links to issues involving how things are working out in practice. It may show that we are holding strong feelings about some issue yet in practice that experience is not born out by the reality. It may also show that you are simply in a reflective mood about your life and how you are reacting to changes within it.
Thanks to both of you. This was another one though like the "terrorist" dream where I felt like I was someone else and not me.
I feel the need to say this to someone, wishing that nothing of what I say comes true.
3 days before the earthquake happened in Japan I had a horrible dream which I have had great difficulty in telling to my wife and a friend of mine fearing she would call me crazy.
I finally tell them what he had dreamed not sure what would happen but it was something catastrophic where many people would die.
3 days after it happened.
Only after seeing the pictures I realized that the message had been given me in the dream.
3 weeks after the earthquake in Japan I had another dream only this time it was more terrifying had something to do with heaven and earth.
Something that fell into the ocean and formed a large wave.
Only this time there was a date he could see the number 5 but does not decode correctly if the month was June or July.
Also could not see what year it was.
