Hey do you sometimes hear knocking on the door just before you wake up, then when you wake up you realise nobody is there?
I used to hear knocking just before I woke up, then I started to blog about it on myspace, and they went away.
I have had a suspicion for about 3 years now that MIB's or aliens may be visiting me at night, and someone told me that the 3 knocks are akin to a hypnotist waking me up from a deep sleep.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
Hi Brandon, Welcome aboard
I hear knocking quite frequently, sometimes I hear other noises and sometimes voices. I think the link below explains it.
Around one in 20 people report experiencing associated symptoms, including a strong sense of a presence, difficulty breathing due to pressure on the chest, intense fear, and a wide range of hallucinations. These can be visual (lights or dark shadows moving around the room, monstrous figures), auditory (voices, footsteps, mechanical sounds), tactile (feeling that one is being touched or dragged off the bed or that the bedclothes are being pulled off), and/or proprioceptive (body or limbs vibrating, rapid acceleration of the whole body, out-of-body experiences).

Welcome to AU.
I hear my internally manufactured sounds as I go to sleep.
Sometimes loud enough to wake me back up.
Usually loud bangs or people talking without the words being clear.
I don't remember the medical term, but it is a common disorder.
I also have occasional bouts of sleep paralysis.
You are not crazy and the sounds are not real.
It is a common sleep disorder and lots of people have it.
Whatever works, use it.
A good idea stands on its own value independent of authorship.
If it stands or falls on the credibility of the author, maybe it isn't such a good idea.

Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.
Hey thanks for the responses guys, I did believe it was sleep apnia or something similar, but I also have a feeling that there are people rummaging through my house and garage etc. How I know they are also in my garage while I am asleep in bed, I don't know. But my suspicions were reinforced last year when I bought a brand new gold/silver/zirconia ring. I took it off before I went to bed and went to put it on the dresser, but it fell on the floor. The next morning I heard the knock, knock, knock again. (It had been almost 12 months since the last time.)
When I got dressed in the morning, the ring was missing. I turned my bedroom upside down looking for it, but I couldn't find it.
The next morning I woke up again hearing the knock, knock, knock, which never happens 2 mornings in a row, and surprise surprise I found my ring. It was on the floor between the bed and dresser, exactly where it had fallen 2 nights before.
The disappearance and re-appearance of physical evidence was the determining factor that has ALMOST confirmed my suspicions. I am still 30% skeptic. Not yet a TRUE believer.
