I woke up to find strange cuts on my body... pictures included

On Teusday i woke up to find several strange marks on my arm and one over my chest. They looked to be like scratch marks or something as if I had scratched myself while i slept.
However, they were deep and visible and they look exactly the same to the kind of cuts you would get if a dog scratched you with its long nails or if a rose bush thistle scratched you as thats happened to me before...

these cuts happened when i slept that night because i certainly didnt notice them the night before as i was looking at my body in the mirror....
Today, about 2 days later, the cuts have faded quite quickly and formed small scabs so they would have occured around that time.

I didn't so much mind the fact that i had cuts on my body. A lot of them are just random lines although it did disturb me as to how i got them. Because i tried scratching myself as hard as i could (and it bloody hurt) but i couldnt duplicate the same kind of scratches. Then on closer inspection i noticed that a group of these cuts were symetrical and formed some kind of pattern. The lines were extremely straight and didn't look 'random' ...
so it really freaked me out and i took some picturse of it to show you guys...

i had to take these pictures with my webcam. The time date stamp says 1994 cos my PC clock is set to 1994 isntead of 2005
THe cuts look a lot more detailed and darker if you see them with your own eyes. They also look a lot more straighter because the surface viewed by the camera is curved. (arm's surface is curved)

I made a drawing of what i see with my own eyes below..

here you can see a triangle shape that i think is about 1mm in length. It's very small and hardly noticeable in the real pictures... The straight black lines mark the scratches (or cuts) that are most visible and the dotted lines mark ones that are a lot less visible.

The drawing and the straightness of the lines is pretty accurate to the real thing and this is why I became worried.
I have no idea how something like this could have developed on my body without me knowing. It obviously happened while i was sleeping but if so, why wouldn't I have felt it and what could have caused such a symmetrical pattern on my arm???

I have other pictures if people want to take a look but they're not as good and like i said before, the scratches healed pretty quick since then and all you can see are just some tiny scabs inside the faint lines.

now ahhh... i try to be skeptical about the idea with aliens and all that stuff but I really can't find any way to explain these cuts.
There are no hard objects around my bed or inside my bed. I suppose i could have sleep walked and done this to myself but im NOT known to sleep walk and the intricacy of the cuts displayed are in a way that its almost impossible for me to have scratched it myself without knowing what i was doing and i dont have any object in my room or my house that could have created such an imprint or scratch mark or whatever it seems to be especially without me knowing how it felt.

actually i tried scratching myself with my finger nails several times to duplicate these cuts but i couldn't... and in the shower as well when my skin would be moist and most vulnerable... i couldn't duplicate the deepness of the cuts shown in the pic with my fingernails...

It's very hard to say anything from a distance. Scratchs alone may or may not be something. To do a real formal investigation one would have to rule out a whole bunch of things first, in particular that you could have done it to yourself without knowing. Generally speaking, there would be a protocol to rule out all the conventional explanations first before getting to the point of considering whether it was possibly paranormal or something else. So sorry I can not be more help other than to say please do not try re-create the cuts!! Ouch! You may want to just try keep a diary of any more events. If this is an isolated incident I would probably lean towards a conventional explanation. What you should not do is get all worried about it. Obviously if this has been going on for years or in repeated cycles and it effects the quality of your life then you of course will want to ask more questions. Just please don't jump to any conclusions until you rule out some more stuff. I am just curious..have you ever had insomnia or sleep disturbances, i.e., are you someone who is a sleep walker or has muscle spasms or jerky movements when you sleep or has had long bouts of insomnia? Do you drink something stimulative before bed, i.e., coffee, or eat late, before you go to sleep. Are you a teen-ager? Have you had any other medical symptoms such as head-aches, muscle pain, nasal blockage or soreness, blurry vision, etc. Those are all the kind of highly personal questions you might want to consider. The reason why I asked your age is because if you are between the age of say 12 and 20, sleep disturbances are very very common as your frontal lobe grows and adjusts. The other questions may or may not lead you in a direction of inquiry you may find useful otherwise you may not want to worry about it at all. I do know that people can and do mutilate themselves when they are in a deep sleep, that is quite possible. Sometimes we do it because we are having problems breathing or have over-active muscle movement in our sleep. You have seen a dog kicking in their sleep right? People do that to. They can also clench and grab and twist, swallow their tongue, poke at their eyes. The sky is the limit. So it could be that...but its hard to say. Hope that helps give youf eed-back without unecessarily winding you up or making you feel too anxious.

yeh you're right rube.... from now on i check my body every morning to see if i get the same kind of thing elsewhere...

i just find it extremely difficult to accept that, i would scratch myself in such a way, while sleeping (so without directing myself), to create someting that is like on my arm with the cross and a line that perfectly joins the two potruding points of the cross to make a triangle shape.... it just is too weird for a self inflicted scratch that i dont know about and i think it would have required some sort of intelligent direction becaue its just wayyyyy too flukey for this kind of pattern to be the result of "random" striking from my nail scratching or from hitting some object...

I stilll get these cuts so ive decided to go straifght to the doctor and ask wat they could be the next time i get them

OMG, the same thing happened to me last night.. for 3 nights now strange things have been happening, they may seem silly, but they also seem like signs. Everything usually occurs when i turn off my lights, the tv turned off the first night, then I got attacked by a mosquito bee thing ive never seen before! This morning I woke up with 3 scratches on my arm which looked as if a dog had scratched me, i dont have any pets, so im very puzzled by it. I dont know what it can be!

Well, not last night but the previous night i woke up in the middle of the night to find cuts overlapping on my chest, similar to the pattern above but more lines, theres no way in hell i could of made these cuts with my fingernails as i chew them and have next to no fingernails making it impossible, i also have two cuts on my side & two cuts on my lower abs, im not really worried just curious as to how the fuck i got them, ill upload a picture if i can figure out how, but i find it kinda weird as i think i would of woken up if someone else did it to me or something, i have no animals & my room & door to my room was completely closed, theres one cut thats deeper than the rest kinda weird but anyway, feel free to email me.

I've awoke with strange bruises on my body in the past. Not long ago I had a large bruise on my upper leg. It wasn't there the night before, and I don't think a bruise would appear after 12 hours.
I just don't worry about them anymore. Nothing serious, nothing hurting. When I asked my doctor about them, he just said I probably bumped myself during the day and forgot about it. I think not... but I'm not the type to argue with my doctor.
