Thread: Korean Crisis and the Death of Kim Jong Il

Actually if you do some reading on North Korea, a lot of the population are disillusioned with the North Korean government.

Years of famine and lies have finally taken their toll. I recommend reading Nothing to Envy by Barbara Demick which demonstrates this.

However you will have those who will stay loyal to the end.

The New York Times reports that the South Korean Deputy Minister of Defence, Lee Yong-geul, has now acknowledged that artillery units were firing test shots on Tuesday afternoon close to the North Korean coast, from a battery on the South Korean island of Paeknyeongdo. But he denied that the shots crossed the disputed maritime border with North Korea.

I watched something on TV about that - but theres to few people who would ever speak out - but the problem is that thats the older generation - the kids have been brainwashed from birth - and theres a few million of them all grown up and ready to die at the drop of a hat -

Even the younger generations are turning against the government. The ones who are "brainwashed" are those living in relative luxury in Pyongyang. Everyone else is struggling to survive.

There are those who will die for their leader but will probably be in the minority. The army however are another matter. They may be a problem...

North Korea v South Korea: every incident mapped

I'm afraid that The World War 3 happen..Because i think that Russia has with North Korea plan this and if they did then it's going to be tough here..Then America and Japan will join with South Korea then China will get involve then we will have the World War 3.

Some how I doubt it would lead to WW3 over North Korea.

Russia and China have tasted Capitalism and like it. Both Russia and China would remain neutral and probably not get involved.

A lot has changed since the Cold War period. Most countries leaders now realise that war isn't the answer, especially against major superpowers.

And you have to remember the Korean war never led to WW3 as some predicated, to which tensions were even higher than they are now.

I just wanted to know what you guys and gals think of the situation in Korea at the moment is it going to evolve into something more?? could be scary, who will China side with do you think should it get out of control?
