Default Would the World's religions survive if aliens made contact

I was just thinking that if they made contact with the World population, would that make most man made religions void?

Some of them would survive. The ones that are not based on homocentrism and accept every life form without discrimination or the ones that are actually based on other world beings... although i'm not sure if they will consider them "gods" or accept them as corporeal beings that could co-exist with us and teach us one or two things... that would be the logical way to proceed i guess..

Edt: in fact i think they should disappear, so people will focus on personal and spiritual REAL growth instead of following blindly man-made laws that were design only to keep the masses under control.

I can see a move to religion shortly.

Yes, "religions" will go away when full disclosure of the Alien presence is made known.

I agree, no discrimination based on the form of the sentient intelligent life.
Discrimination against BAD neighbors, Alien or human, will always be good to have. I fully approve of such discrimination as that.

    CSCC,

I am going to carefully respond to your post in hopes you and I are on better footing What do you think about philosophies such as buddhism? do you believe they will last after disclosure?

Carl Sagan had a pretty bleak outlook on the reaction of organized religion, particularly the Christian Right.

In his book "Contact" it is these religious zealots that blow up the first Machine that is assembled to enable the first contact.

Unfortunately, I think it would still probably go something like that.

Most people will not want any part of them or want to know anything about them. Most will probably want to destroy them.

I wish I could be more optimistic about it, but it is what it is. We are not ready yet.

If I understand correctly, the Tibetan Buddhists have been in contact with higher plane entities for over a thousand years.

I'm sure they will make out just fine. And maybe they'll get Llasa back...

    No.

The Bible clearly states that about 2/3 will die, they will not accept the governing authority of the galaxies, just like the loser bad Aliens now traped on Earth.

Well unless you're expecting some kind of Will Smith Movie version of aliens visiting Earth, I don't think the human race will kill itself over it.

To the OP, no, some people will blissfully carry on worshipping make believe entities no matter what evidence is put before them.
    That's why it's called Faith.
