Well you might have seen my other thread - I'm doing a project on jesus, and am researching what non biblical sources say about him. I have been astounded! The Nag Hammadi library and gospel of Judas are incredible! But I am unsure how to put my arguement together [it's a feature article] and what points I should bring up. I was thinking to go Da vinci code, and propose that the early church eleminated various gnostic texts [such as gospel of mary etc] from the bible, in order to swing the balance in favour of males. I was thinking of arguing from the gnostic P.O.V that jesus' true purpose was not as a saviour, but as a liberator.
What y'all reckon? Anyone got any thoughts/ideas how to attack it? Thanks for any help, hopefully some interesting discussion will ensue!

Hi guys, just wondering if there are any non biblical references to Jesus [Christian bible]. I found some from Tacitus, Pliny the younger, Josephus, Babylonian Talmud, but can't seem to find any more. [Of course I am talking references to Christ AROUND the time when he was around i.e not 600 years after].
Its for a project at school. Thanks for any help.

Well I was thinking.. Is true love real? I am not talking about love between say, you and your mother. I know that kind of love is real. I love my family. I am talking about so called 'romantic' love. The love between a man and a woman. Boyfriend - Girlfriend, Husband - wife. I am very confused if this kind of love is real or not. I have not experienced this kind of love. At the moment, my opinion is that it is not real. I do not believe romantic love is real. Have you fallen in love with someone for who they are, not what they look like? How many people with facial injuries, burns etc do you see with someone who loves them romantically? The trend I have noticed is people often fall into lust with people because they find them 'hot' or 'cute'. Eg love at first sight. Is it possible to LOVE someone at first site when you don't even know what kind of person they are? Shouldn't it be 'lust' at first sight? Because that's what love at first sight is, you find that person physically attractive.. I will provide an example. I recently watched Harry potter. As soon as I saw the girl who plays Hermione [Emma watson] my heart starting beating faster, and I stopped watching the movie and instead just watched her. I felt like I was in love with her. I got hot and prickly all over just watching her. Basically I experienced all the 'love at first sight' symptons. [Btw I am only like 5 months older then her i'm not a pedophile.
] I still experience those feelings when I think about her now, a few days later. I don't feel the sexual urges that men see when they see a 'hot' women on an add in a bikini or something. I feel like I love her. But how can I love her If I have never even met her!!
That was an example to prove my point. I believe romantic love is based on physical attraction. How is it possible to love someone without even meeting them? Has anyone experienced love at first sight, with someone with a deformed face? I doubt it. Has anyone fallen into ROMANTIC love with someone with a deformed face? I doubt it too. Maybe I'm wrong, nd I really do love the actor who plays hermione but I doubt it. Please post any experiences / opinions,as this, topic is really bothering me. Just like people want to believe in god, I want to believe in romantic love. I want to, but i can't and don't. In my opinion its lust, not love. Thanks.

What is your guys opinion on 'slutty' sex. I mean sex for pleasure alone. Alot of people my age, and many of my friends engage in sexual actives with girls they have no real feelings for but just for the pleasure or 'lust' of it.
I don't follow a religion, but for some reason every fibre in my body tells me this is wrong. I could have gone along with my friends on their 'activities' but i think it is 100% wrong. I don't know why. Anyone else want to comment?
