Weird, indeed.

I lik how it appears to be 'sighting' things to its left and right before the beam goes down towards the camera.

either a fake or a helicopter spinning and the light was first reflecting off of the clouds. Also they have adjustable searchlights. Probably a police helicopter.

Yeah i would go along with what Trog say's or it's another hoax....

It's hard to know what to believe anymore

This video was one of the 2006 Australian "ufo wave" videos, which are now admitted to be a hoax (or rather an "immersive artwork") by Chris Kenworthy and funded by the Australian Film Commission.

The true story behind it is given by the artists as follows:
"We hired an actor to do the voicing of this clip, and thought a shocked response was appropriate. The lights are, once again, streetlights, composited into the sky. The beam of light is easily created with software."

Imagine what will happen when "Australian UFO wave" hoaxed videos keep appearing in a year or two, and everyone has forgotten the relevant "immersive artwork" project.

Well you have mysterious lights, thats almost good for a ufo id.
Why the sudden movement to the right and back.
Getting its coils warmed up no doubt.
So it takes off in a exhaust stream of electrons.

Who knows what high voltage can do with electrons, after all
I haven't seen much lightning since the GE Theather with Ronald Reagan.

I wonder if scientific area of coil aether interaction is funded but kept secret.
