If you watched the last Episode of UFO Hunters on History channel, you would have seen this clip



It show a beam of light emanating from up that does touch the ground. This is unusual for a beam of light.

As the Bill and other stated, this characteristic is commonly seen in beam from UFOs.

This clip need to be investigated in more details.
