OK, considering when I Google "Nome Alaska Abuductions" a Yahoo Answers post comes up first and this forum thread comes up second I'm pretty sure they never existed.

Perhaps when they say on the trailer that it is based on actual footage they mean it is based on abduction cases from all around the world, not just Nome, Alaska. This Dr. Abigail is either completely void of media attention or a synthesized character (I'm leaning towards the latter).

This is all I've found so far that might slightly have something to do with Nome and aliens, although aliens are never directly mentioned in the article. The website seems legit enough, but it's focused on Native Americans. Has a big story on Native Americans disappearing from Nome and and FBI involvement. Might not be related but figured I'd throw it out there...

I really hate it when speculation takes on fact, facts will always win, to find them you just have to be more thourough in your research. We are listed as one of the trailer's references, how in the hay did you miss that in your researching the facts of the movie, or are you just crying wolf after some quick scan of the internet?

This is going to sound strange coming from a guy who just joined the site as well, but I find it very interesting that both the person that posted this and the person that posted right after both joined the site in september of 2009. Makes me think they are just Hollywood marketing guys...

What this all tells me is that it probably is a hoax, but as with all lies there is some truth. That begs the question: what is the truth behind the lie?

    Thumbs up

Hi..I'm leifodla..Now what I find interesting is the fact that something was recorded on tape in sumerian,,also taped evidence of other things..We humans now when we really see something, but if we also see and document it then we begain to make a chain of burden of proof..I find it very interesting..and would not mind to see what they really had as evidence to there claims..

    Hello all!

I'm a college student, and my school did a pre-screening of The Fourth Kind tonight!
I just saw it and wanted to do some research on the validity of the claims in the movie. First off, if you are at ALL interested in Aliens, UFO's
abductions, ANYTHING you will absolutely enjoy this movie! It was SO well done, and incredibly interesting.
Plus, I enjoyed watching everyones reactions after, debating on whether or not is was real! If only you could have seen the reactions of those watching the movie.
We were all in true shock and horror at the footage.

First off, in the commercial they blur Dr. Abigail Emily Tyler's face for effect when you truely see her in the movie; the sight is truely jaw dropping.
The movie obviously claims that this is all based on true fact, and emphasises this to a degree i've never seen in a movie.
They claim that each and every scene is backed by over 65 hours of evidence and tapes collected by Dr. Tyler, among other noted psychologiest
Many names were changed, and the city shown in the movie is not even Nome, Alaska, so whether or not it's true is up for speculation
Many are criticising it solely because it has a feel reminiscent of "The Blair Witch Project", but in my humble opinion, it was nothing like it.

I won't give away anything, but some of the footage in this movie was so disturbing that I find it insulting to claim that some of the events were not real,
and once you witness the movie, you might understand exactly which scenes I'm speaking of.

They do show this poor woman in her true state, though, even claiming that she was mentally unstable, which admitedly she was.
I have a feeling that there is going to be an INCREDIBLY interesting response to this movie all across the US!

Whether or not is was all true, I cannot say. They made it clear that this was taken from the research and stories of one woman, with others only slightly involved,
so it's hard to know exactly what is true and what is falsified.

Personally, I felt that some of the footage seemed incredibly easy to fake, but it was shocking none the less!
Let's just say that, based on the research I've done so far, it wouldnt surprise me if it cam out that only parts of this incredible story were true.
It seems that Dr. Abigail Emily Tyler was a real person, and that her daughter truely was taken from her by forces unknown.
If this is true, the hardship that this woman has had to endure is unspeakable, and I wouldn't judge her.

Either way the cookie crumbles, it was a great movie, and everyone interested should see it & enjoy!
If anyone wants spoilers, I'll be glad to explain further, but you should probably just wait and enjoy the shock!!!!

Have a great day everyone! Glad I could contribute a bit Feel free to send me any questions

If you look into the source for the page: http://alaskanewsarchive.com/news/archive/...er-Profile.html

    You'll find /* 728x90, created 8/24/09- Alaska News Archive */

Even if the writers etc made this site to try and beef up their story, someone put a creation date on the page. So the site proclaims "July, 1997" and the contradicts itself in the source. If someone made this site for the movie the least they could have done is have some foresight and make it a while back so it would look like they were legitimately posting the archive. Also, when you traverse to any other page on that domain the same information is embedded in the source.

    ie.

    http://alaskanewsarchive.com/news/archive/...-By-Aliens.html
(This one even mentions aliens, twice on the same sparsely populated site? I think not.)

    http://alaskanewsarchive.com/news/archive/...es-On-Pace.html
    http://alaskanewsarchive.com/news/archive/...t-Dividend.html

Anyway, I could go on but it now appears that the entire site went up on 8/24/09. Fake fake fake.

Essentially, the domain registration is anonymous thru a 3rd party domain registration. Check the IP address of the person who posted that website and you will likely find one of two things... An L.A. or close by IP, OR use of a proxy (it will show as anonymous or from some other country).

    Very interesting.

Hey this could add some insight... funny is i joined because of this thread... I live in Alaska and that movie.... is "based on real" events just like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which was "based" on two serial killers. So overall... since 1960 there have been 20 disappearances with 9 of them never finding the bodies. Most of them were Native Americans and were found to be floating in the near by rivers dead or on the tundra.... This is where I believe the Dr. Abigail Tyler comes from. She currently is not in Nome probably due to her child being missing and her husband committing suicide and her whereabouts are unknown.

They do not say in the news articles what she was a doctor of... her husband was a physchatrist.... also they video taped that movie in Bulgaria... definately not Alaska... just like 30 days and nights was videotaped in New Zealand.... Believe what you want but I think its so people wont visit Alaska... It is a very wide open country and getting lost and dying happens all the time. These movies come about due to the fact that most places in Alaska are inaccessible except by plane and it is winter 3/4 of the year.

Anyways heres the news articles and their links CHECK EM OUT!!!

Nome Psychologist's Death an Apparent Suicide
    September 29th, 2000
    Staff Report

    Fairbanks Daily News-Miner
FAIRBANKS - The Office of the State Medical Examiner concluded on Tuesday that the death of Nome psychiatrist Dr. William Tyler was the result of an apparent suicide.

On September 5, Dr. Tyler's body was found in his home by his wife Dr. Abigail Tyler. At the time Nome police had no evidence of foul play, but Alaska state law requires the Medical Examiner to investigate the cause of death for all deaths caused by violence.

The case gained some notoriety in past weeks because of the disappearance of Dr. Tyler's five-year-old daughter on October 5th.

Five Years Later, Mystery Still Surrounds Case of Missing Girl
    October 2005
    By Laurie McNicholas
    The Nome Nugget
NOME - This month marks the 5-year anniversary of the disappearance of Ashley Tyler. It is a case that still haunts the family and local authorities.

Ashley Tyler disappeared from her home in the early morning hours of October 5, 2000. The five years that have passed since the disappearance have only served to deepen the mystery, and the case remains unsolved.

"It still gets to me," said Nome's former chief of police Charlie Moates. "We've had people go missing before, and you do your best. But to have a little girl just up and disappear is hard to wrap your head around."

Adding to the mystery were the bizarre series of events in the life of the Tyler family in the weeks before the incident. They include the suicide of Dr. Tyler's husband, Dr. Will Tyler, and the murder-suicide committed by one of her patients, Tommy Stapleton.

"This town's been through a lot. I hope the families involved are able to find some peace," said Chief Moates. When asked if he was fully satisfied that Dr. Tyler was indeed innocent of the alleged crime Chief Moats was noncommittal.

"I mean, around here, we go with the evidence, and the evidence said let her go."

Dr. Tyler left Nome in the years since the disappearance and could not be located for comment at the time of publication. Chief Moates and the local authorities remain hopeful that the next five years will yield more answers than the last five.

Local Catholic Diocese & Schools Respond to Stapleton Murders
    The Seattle Times
    Staff Reporter
    October 15, 2000
Nome, Alaska - Local radio station KNOM radio, privately owned by the Catholic Diocese of Northern Alaska, as well as local schools, Nome Elementary and Nome Beltz Jr. High School, have teamed up to respond to recent tragedies related to the Stapleton and Tyler families of Nome. KNOM announced this morning the coordination of a crisis intervention support team and counseling center that will be operational as of this Monday.

Psychologists and counselors will be flown in from Anchorage and from as far away as Washington D.C. to support the Nome community in processing and coping with the shock, stress and questions that the town's many young children, as well as their parents, are experiencing.

Nome Elementary and Nome Beltz Jr. High School have both cancelled a week of classes as the crisis teams overtake both schools' gymnasiums with the temporary counseling centers. Counselors on hand are specialized in grief and stress management. According to local resident and parent Emily Krost, they will hopefully be instrumental in helping her family and children come to terms with the sudden turn of events that have emotionally devastated her family and others.

October 3rd, a tragic triple murder-suicide culminated in the loss of the Stapleton family. That event was followed by the disappearance of a local 8-year old girl, whose name has been withheld on the basis of confidentiality as it relates to an on-going investigation by the Nome Police Department.
