Thread: The Threat by David M. Jacobs

I haven't read it yet, but I have heard about it. One major thing I should warn you to do is to take Jacobs's claims with a grain of salt. A lot of his information comes from hypnosis sessions on abductees, and hypnosis has been proven to be an EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE tool for recovering memory. A lot of the information in those sessions could have been fabricated by leading questions, hypnotic suggestion and confabulation.
David Jacobs has a degree in American history, but he has NO psychiatric credentials and no medical or psychological training whatsoever.
Regressive hypnosis in the hands of someone like Jacobs can EASILY lead to the creation of false memories. Look up False Memory Syndrome online.

I'm not saying alien abductions don't happen. I believe alien abductions can happen. I just don't believe that aliens like the Greys are planning to take over, and I not only question the conclusions that Jacobs has come to, but also and especially his unethical methods to get to those conclusions.
Read up about the Emma Woods case to find out why I'm disillusioned with Jacobs as a reputable researcher.

In my opinion Jacobs books are the best written and most informative on topic of abduction. If you liked the Threat I would also recommend Sight Unseen by Jacobs.

How can Jacobs's books be the most informative on alien abduction when all of his source material comes from questionable hypnosis methods conducted by himself and Budd Hopkins on abductees without any critical oversight or peer review? As far as I know, there is virtually no supporting physical evidence that he shows to back up the accounts made by the people he hypnotised.
If you think that Jacobs is the best expert on alien abduction, think again. Emma Woods, a research subject and alien abductee that was hypnotized by Jacobs, would strongly and respectfully disagree with you.
There is a thread on this board that talks about the psychological abuse that Jacobs has inflicted with his hypnosis methods on Emma Woods and other abductees.
I urge you to look up the Emma Woods case and look up the thread on David Jacob's hypnotic abuse on this forum.

After all of my years studying abductions and reading countless books I found that Jacobs idea's were the most agreeable. It's all based on personal opinion, and my personal opinion is that he is very on point.
Also, Jacobs provides an explanation to why the abductions are happening. While I don't agree with everything he writes about, in my mind it makes the most sense.
In regards to Emma Woods, I am loosely familiar with her but not enough to make any valid argument for or against her. What I can say though is that Jacobs has interviewed many many abductees, if there is only an issue with one then the ratio is still decent and his work is still valid.
We may never know if Jacobs is accurate or not, but at the very least his books are an interesting read and will probably scare the crap out of anyone.

Thank you, Julia52 for the link to the thread. I personally believe that the idea of suggesting to a hypnosis patient that she wear a chastity belt like Jacobs suggested to Ms. Woods....is a form of sexual harassment.

You would think that if he's such a fraud more and more people would be coming forward. Seems like only one. Maybe she's right, maybe she's wrong. His books are an interesting read nonetheless.

David Jacobs alleges his 'research' [sic] into the 'alien abduction' phenom indicates alien-human hybrids are secretly 'infiltrating' human society with the 'goal' being... Conquering The Earth...

Just another 're~tired sad old man' who never made it to The Big Event giving it 'one last shot'?
Maybe hoping to have his 'research enshrined' in a B Movie SciFi Thriller...
