Maureen Elsberry, one of the conference organizers said they are very excited to have General Bermúdez at the event. “This is the first time in the U.S. that such a high-ranking government official has spoken to the public about an official government sponsored UFO project. It shows how serious other countries take the subject of UFOs. It’s something they feel is worthy of official investigation.”
There have been many claims of UFO sightings or unexplained noises throughout Chile, with a high concentration in the north of the country. A famous case was recorded in 1971 with witnesses including three police officers, a truck driver, a fishing boat and a journalist between Antogagasta, Tocopilla and Iquique.
An even older claim is that of a sighting in Copiapó in 1864. Many of the claims of unexplained sightings occur before, during or after significant natural events. Both the February 2010 earthquake and Pueyhue volcanic eruption were followed by claims of UFO sightings and other mysteries.
Two weeks before the Earthquake which rocked Chile in 2010, there were reports of mysterious sounds, “like thunder, but much louder and with no lightning or other signs of storms”. After the quake, passengers on a bus traveling to Iquique were reported in the La Segunda newspaper saying they had seen “a humanoid of over three meters tall”.
The CEFFA investigates sightings of UFOs, mainly seen by commercial and military pilots “but only if there is an indication that the safety of the aircraft might have been at risk.” General Bermúdez said”the CEFAA’s official position has always been to recognize that something is happening in our skies, but we, as yet, do not know what it is.”
The conference will take place on February 25th in Fountain Hills, Arizona in the USA. UFOs are also referred to in Chile as OVNIs. While not a UFO, the remnants of the failed Russian probe Phobus Grunt fell into the ocean of the coast of Chile earlier this week.

Now i would really like to hear this man's lecture.

I find this all to be very interesting.... especially the bit about thunder without lightening. I heard that it is common to have an alien abduction dream during a storm. What is your take on there being a connection with wind storms? When ever I reflect back on a night when either something strange has happened, a feeling of something about to happen is over whelming or someone else I know tells me they had an experience, I seem to remember wind storms.

The passengers on the bus all seeing a 3 meter tall humanoid sounds interesting. I'd love to hear more. Too bad I'm so far away from AZ.

Good find buddy, and I echo your wish to hear the general's lecture!

I hadn't heard of the man before but a quick search yielded a positive picture of the general's character and intentions.
His involvement with CEFAA can only add to his status as I believe that the organisation from this link is founded on a serious and sound footing....

....I wonder if he will digress from his main topic of pilot-encounters and give his opinions and any information that he has about other types of reports such as this alleged UFO crash and retrieval from 1998 in Paihuano, a small village in Valle de Elquí, that I find intriguing ....?

Bill i would hope the General is the highest paid speaker at the conference,if he's not then the general short changed himself.This link you provided is rubbish,this guy apparently knows nothing about conferences of any kind.People go to them to have fun and to hear speakers of topics of interest.Yes the promoter charges an admittance fee,how do you think he recovers his investment in the rental of the facilities?Fees from vendors plus admittance fees the promoter hopes to get back his investment,that does not happen all the time,as putting on conferences is a risky business.
It's not up to promoters to determine the creditability of speaker or vendors,that's up to the attendees,if a promoter offers poor quality service then people won't come back,but that's the risk he takes.Do people talk bad about one another at these conferences ,of course they do,it's human nature.I could go on and on,but it's clear this as bias as you can get and it's so bias that it's laughable.
