Default OUTER SPACE & BEYOND OUR GALAXY

A lot of people wonder: What's beyond Pluto? Is there any other galaxy? Are there any living creatures in outer space? Maybe bacteria? This is my philosophy: Look at an ant on a tree outside (this theory is based on what was said by a professor in an interview on TV). Does it know about us, humans? That the tree is huge, sure, but it's only a small proportion of the backyard? Of the town? Of the country? Of the Earth? No, the ant goes back and forth collecting food, interacting with other ants, and other living insects on that tree. It has no knowledge of human beings, that it's a tree, that it's on Earth. Ants might consider a tree as a country, and us as either giants or because we're so big to them, they might see our hands like meteorites killing them (if we do). We say we're the most intelligent living creatures. What if our galaxy is just a very small proportion of the actual reality? I sometime looks up at the dark sky at night, wondering if far, far, far away in anotehr galaxy - on another planet, some living creature is also wondering, "Is there any other living creatre out there - on another planet, another galaxy, or another timeframe? Also looking up, thinking the same thing?" Time is also another thing that causes a lot of confusion and mysteries. Take the Black Hole and the Bermuda Triangle for example. They could act as gates to someplace we never know, unless we find out for ourselves.

Some scientists say that there are bacterias living in the underground of Mars. So bottom line is, it's all still a mystery. No one knows for sure. But to go along with the "look-at-an-ant" theory, as said by a professor, "It's not beyond reach, it's just beyond our comprehension or understanding of it."

I agree its great to look up in the sky at night and wonder. To try and put the universe in perspective. According to the drake equation there is a conceivable chance of life on other planets. it would be arrogant to think we are the only life forms in the universe. it is a marvelous mystery is it not.

That equation only states the probability of life on other planets that are similar to earth.

some source of energy is obviously pulling all the strings in our universe. we can imagine the possibilities, but can we really accept them? the truth is alien and mutated. the facade is human religion. when that time comes ( hopefully in our lifetime ) for our species to learn of the source behind all of this power.....it will be a beautiful thing. that is, if the creatures dont mutilate us all and put us into test tubes.

To Quote a phrase by a famous author: "If we are the only ones, it'd be an awful waste of space." -Carl Sagan

I feel it's a more frightening thought to imagine that we are alone in this enormous universe of ours.

    Default Not the only ones

I don’t think were the only living creatures in some randomly occurring universe for one reason, and here it is.

If everything is random, if everything is meaningless, then everything should follow the simple laws that we see around us every day, and yet even on our own planet we see evidence that our physical laws are broken in a way that allows life to happen. What law am I talking about?

I am talking about the simple observable fact that complexity gives way to simplicity. A hot cup of Coffey, very frenetic, very busy, gently ebbs away until it is as cold as its surroundings, the very complex hot Coffey becomes simple.

In this way all energy will disperse, break down, observed in our bodies; we break down, die, our energy is reapportioned.

So why oh why is it that complex things arise, energy creates matter, which in turn becomes more complex until we get to planets and even life itself. Surly such a complex system should never be allowed in a universe where everything is trying to simplify itself. The only logical conclusion is that complexity is ‘allowed’ to happen by something we cannot fathom.

To Tom: you should do some research on Chaos Theory. Simple laws can give rise to very complex behaviour (e.g. the mandelbrot fractal), and random motion can give rise to order (e.g. ant colonies). It's actually very fascinating stuff .

I understand there is evidence that other solar systems exist because of star wobbles.

but "The comfort zone" doesnt always mean life exists on those planetary regions.

Venus, Earth and Mars are all in the "Comfort zone" and yet mars has to thin of an atmosphere and the warmest day is like North Dakota in deep freeze while Venus is 3 times hotter then Mercury which is 50 percent closer to the sun then venus is. Why is that? why did venus heat up to 800f??

so earth may be one of few of billions of planets in comfortable areas of solar systems that actually have life that thinks.

I believe that we been visited from life elsewhere but we are still a selected few.
