The light beam of a ufo?

I was driving home from Parsippany NJ one night. I was on a main road heading towards 287N. At a intersection, the light was green for me, as I drove through it, I still look to make sure a vechicle is not going through the light. The house on the side street to my left, had a light beam going down on top of it. It took a sec or 2 for it to register with me. I then made a u turn, went back to look at the house & there was no light beam.

At first, I thought I mistaken it for the street light, it was to bright, to circluar. I ruled that out.

I don't know what I saw that night, it has always nagged at me, that I saw something out of the ordinary. The more I have seen and heard about UFO's, I am leaning towards, I saw the light of one.

What do you all think?

Were your windows rolled up so you couldn't hear a police helicopter? Sounds like a spotlight from a helo... did it look a bit shaky?

I would have to say, at the time, my window was partialy open, only cause I smoked back then.

I had also thought of a helicopter, there was no police activity. Just from experience working disaster scenes, if a helicopter is using their flood light, there is police activity. May not apply 100%, I do not know.

Just a spotlight? Just the light hitting the ground or a shaft/column of light?

When my grandfather had his UFO encounter in up-state NY in the late 60's the UFO shot a beam of light down at him. He said the light was the brightest light he had ever seen. There was a very slight hum noise. Then the thing shot off. He was a cop at the time and he had pulled over on the side of a country road to releave himself. Later that night after his encounter, he received a few calls from people who's pets where acting strange and who had seen the UFO also. It was in the Albany Times new paper the next day.

I would have say a round shaft/column light. It was right over the roof house, I do not recall seeing the light hitting the ground. Remember, I was driving through the intersection when this took place. The light hitting the roof is what caught my attention.

So you could see the shaft of light, which is unusual unless it's foggy out. Was it white, or bluish or greenish... or etc...?

I grew up in Bergen County NJ. I remember as a kid in the 60's, there were alot of UFO sightings. This was the era before we went to the moon or had things floating in space. I recall round lights in the area.

What I recall most, was, a UFO was suppose to have landed near a resorvour in I believe it was Emerson, NJ. There was a big thing about it & yes, men in suits. My 7th grade science teacher lived near the area & saw it. It was the topic of class the next day. The day after that, it was all hush, we weren't allowed to speak of it in class again. He had told us it was a hoax. Was it? I often wonder.

Around the same time, there were sightings in Wannaque NJ. There suppose to have been sightings through the years of ufo's entering the resorvoir there. There is a bridge, they call the UFO bridge, where people will go and watch for them.
