what videogames do you think have the best stories? You can do top ten or whatever.

I would have to put elder scrolls oblivion, assassin's creed, and kingdom hearts up there. maybe the metal gear series as well.

First Tomb Raider a true classic at the time also enjoyed the 3rd game especially the area 51 level

Silent Hill (the first and second), Mass Effect, Half Life 2 -- these are the first ones that come to mind, I'm sure there are others I can't think of offhand.

I can think of a few games with craptastic story lines, but those are mostly the Japanese games that make no logical sense.

I love the old infocom text adventure game called planetfall.
I don't think it was so much of an outstanding story, it was more a case of being very absorbing. Being a text advanture (now I am showing my age smile.gif) you had to play it with a lead pencil and a few sheets of graph paper to create a map.
Great game.
