Maree Man

The Maree Man story in Australia has another twist to it I have never seen canvassed in the media since the creation of the geoglyph first became known to the public in June 1998.

Australia has a national secrets act and uses it. I would suggest those who were responsible for the grading of the shape, if a public servent would have been bound by its' implementation.
People should recall the area became restricted air space after the media reported the story of this formation.
The media was slow to move and yet several days before the major networks ran the story, the abc tv ( dear old auntie ... perhaps less hobbled in those days ) slipped in a video clip in the later part of a 7 pm news time slot. I saw the video clip with my own eyes.

The clip showed the reporter standing beside a section of the formation. His report went for perhaps 20-30 seconds. It was what he said that really caught my attention at first. There was no warning the story was going to be run. No pre publicily so to speak.

The reporter described the real mystery of the maree man that has intrigued me to this day. He described the formation being constructed not by a grader but rather by small rocks with no evidence of human intervention. The camera then panned over the rocks defining the formation. It was there for all to see. The width of the rock formation was loosely piled though appeared to be roughly abt 1 metre wide and perhaps a foot high. You could see the line of rocks going off in the distance.

I set the video player to record during the abc news in brief / lateline program later that night. Absolutely nothing on the news until the major networks picked up on it two days later. By then the reports had the maree man image made by a grader.

Now there are many viewers of the abc who must have seen this and are wondering the same as myself.

Was there a coverup by the government. I have absolutely no doubt this has happened. Why was there a cover up. The reason is so obvious blind freddy could work it out. There was no rational explanation for this formation. How could 28 klms of rock be piled up to form this shape virtually overnight with no evidence of human intevention ... vehicles, footprints, that sort of thing.
Why did the abc slip their clip in. It was done in the public interest. Perhaps someone lost their job over it, who knows, yet those 30 seconds of footage were there for all to see.

Stories relating to how the shape could have possibly been surveyed ... gps etc are really irrevelant. The shape was already there.
Why didn't the grading go a little deeper to get to the white chalk below the surface. The grading wasn't done to highlight the shape for all to see. It was done to hide how the formation was originally constructed.
